Nvidia overtakes Apple to become TSMC largest client
TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – AI pioneer Nvidia Corporation overtook Apple Inc. for the first time in 2025 to become Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co.’s largest customer, reports said Friday.
A financial report from TSMC only mentioned “client A” and “client B,” per CNA. In a previous interview, Nvidia founder and CEO Jensen Huang (黃仁勳) said his company had become the Taiwanese chip producer’s top customer, indicating Nvidia was “client A.”
According to TSMC, “client A” was responsible for NT$726.9 billion (US$23.2 billion) in revenue for 2025, more than double the figure of the previous year. As a share of TSMC’s total revenue, it had grown from 12% in 2024 to 19% in 2025.
“Client B” contributed NT$645.1 billion to revenue last year, an increase of 3.33% from the previous year. As a share of TSMC’s total revenue, the client’s business declined from 22% to 17%.
Analysts predicted Nvidia is likely to remain the contract chipmaker’s top customer this year due to the explosive growth of the AI sector. Nvidia is also preparing to build its Taiwan headquarters in Taipei’s Beitou-Shilin Technology Park following the signing of a contract with the city government.
